War Dog

Yesterday evening, I finished my reading of Robert Anker’s novel War dog (Oorlogshond). What a disappointment, that Arnold Heumakers recommended a testosterone fuelled adventure with big cars, guns and lot’s of sex by an author who definitely seems to be in his midlife crisis; the hero of the story is able to buy the biggest cars, to win all fights, to have sex with every girl etc. A novel on the importance of war and violence in our current age is promising and necessary, but this attempt is just skin-deep. I think I have to reread Ernst Jünger’s Heliopolis again…
