Nightwork (Jachym Topol)

Just finished my reading of Jachym Topol´s Nightwork. I am sure there is no room for such a nocturnal praxis in the age of Google, which is the age of the perfect fit between man and his ecosystem. Does Nightwork enable us to resist the age of Google? At least, there is no room for romantic illusions in Topol’s description of nocturnal practices in chilling and obscure forests in the border region of the Czech Republic. He teaches us that “Nature is horrible; a mother who bites her child”. Maybe we have to accept this biting mother in order to become truly nocturnal practitioners.
